5/30/2018 0 Comments Final Exam1. The first thing you do in the art criticism process is describe the artwork by listing what you see in the art and describing the color scheme. Then, you analyze the artwork by listing the media and techniques that were used, like the color, value, texture, proportion and perspective. After you analyze the art then, you interpret it by asking yourself what the mood was, the feelings that were communicated, what ideas were represented, and what type of story is being told by the artwork. Finally, you judge the piece on things like the piece's theme, what you think of it, whether or not its successful and why.
Throughout the year, the Illustration Fridays have helped me reach my artistic goals and taught me a lot about being creative and inspiring around art. They help me think of ideas for the main projects and it made thinking of topics and themes for them much easier. By doing them every week, I got better and better as the weeks went on. Practicing art with different media in the Illustration Fridays helped me with getting comfortable using new materials. They also gave a theme for each week which made you have to think and be creative to create art based on the topic which was given to you. 4. The most difficult thing about this class for me was thinking of themes for pieces and pencil drawing. Something that could be done to help with this is to practice pencil drawing in a sketchbook in class or out of school in your free time for fun. To help with thinking of different things for themes and topics to make your pieces about you could write down the things that you like and enjoy in your sketchbook. I think that if you do these things to help make pencil drawing and thinking of themes, class won't be as difficult for you. If you practice, you can become really good using the media and advance and make really amazing art.

First, I put down a base layer of tissue paper on the entire paper. Then, I started painting on flowers and grass on top of the tissue paper. Next, I used ink to make lines by stroking a fan brush across the paper in small sections. I then put pieces of cut out magazines out top of the previous layers. I also added water colored newspaper flowers to the piece and drew on a heart with a black marker. I chose to show life. One in nature and one with technology. The girl represents today's society and how it used to run a lot better without all of the electronics, but there were still ideas of technology floating around in the minds of the people creating new things.
In my watercolor perspective painting I used two point perspective. I decided to paint this picture I took in Georgia when I was on vacation. The thing I found difficult about this project was how to get the right colors with the watercolor by layering them. The phone warm-up helped me because it helped me practice two point perspective before I started my actual piece. The tree warm-up helped me because i had a lot of trees in the picture I took so it helped me learn the technique of painting a tree with watercolor.

4/17/2018 0 Comments Warm Up Blog PostIn my piece the most helpful warm up so far was the hair. It helped me because I was able to practice the shading and highlighting to help make my portrait piece look more realistic.
The most surprising thing I found about the facial proportions was that the hair isn't supposed to be drawn flat on the head. When you draw it with more volume it looks 3D and more real. 3/26/2018 0 Comments Paint Mixing This activity has taught me how to mix primary colors to get secondary colors. I also understand how to use tints, shades, and tones to make the colors darker or lighter. To make brown, you need to mix a primary color with its complementary color which it the color opposite from it. Depending on which colors you chose to use your shades of brown may vary.
After I put on all of the clay decorations, my piece was fired, I painted it, and it was coated in glaze to give it a finished and shiny look. I really liked that my finished piece came out the way that I wanted it to look based off of the sketch I made. If I were to do this piece again I would make the box a cube shape and I would put more decorations on the lid.
I plan to turn this piece into an ocean themed box because I love the beach. I plan to finish this by adding a turtle to the top has the handle and adding things like seaweed, coral, rocks, and starfish. I also want to add a texture to the box to make it look like water. After the box is fired, I plan on using acrylic paint to finish the piece. So far something that I have found difficult was getting the lid to fit the base because it needs to line up perfectly to be able to fit correctly. So far i found to be successful in putting the walls of the base together. I have used to method of scoring and slipping to connect each slab of clay. 3/25/2018 0 Comments Linocut PrintmakingMy piece shows off the theme of "line" because I chose to do hair. To make hair look as realistic as possible you need to be able to use different types of lines and incorporate different line shapes. My piece was successful because it turned out just like the drawing that I planned it to be. If I were to do this again I would have changed the shirt design to make it more interesting. I might have also added something to the background.
